Dr. Raihana Sharir is the Sports Science Program Coordinator at the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia. With a strong foundation in sport biomechanics and human motion analysis.
Dr. Sharir earned her PhD in Sport Biomechanics from Liverpool John Moores University, where she specialized in knee injury prevention, particularly ACL injuries, in dynamic activities. During her doctoral studies, she also contributed as a Teaching Support Officer in Biomechanics, nurturing the development of aspiring researchers.
Her technical expertise encompasses the use of various biomechanical tools and software, including Qualysis motion capture, Theia markerless system, Kistler force platforms, Biodex isokinetic dynamometer, Noraxon EMGs, Visual3D, Inspect3D, and SimiMotion. During her Postdoctoral work, she focused more on the comparison of the markerless and marker-based systems.
Dr. Sharir has been an active contributor to the LJMU biomechanical consultancy team, offering support to elite football clubs, professional athletes, and recreational athletes i.e. Liverpool FC, England's Women's Football. Additionally, she has served as a sport scientist for UiTM FC and other national sports teams.
Her professional interests extend to Strength and Physical Conditioning, Fitness, and Wellness. Dr. Sharir is passionate about pursuing collaborative opportunities in applied sport settings and academia to further advance the field of sport biomechanics.
Dr. Sharir’s professional engagements include leadership roles such as President of the Asian Society of Sport Biomechanics (2023-2025), Vice President of the Malaysian Skate Federation (MYSKATE), and Board Member of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport (2024-2026). She is also an Editorial Board member of the Sports Biomechanics journal and serves as a dedicated reviewer for several sport science journals.
