CHUNGJU-SI, 15 NOVEMBER 2022 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation (FSR) attended the UNESCO ICM – UiTM International Seminar 2022 on Youth Development through Martial Arts, South Korea. Previously, UiTM and UNESCO ICM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September 2022.The International Seminar was represented by the Dean of FSR, Professor Dr Mohad Anizu Mohd Nor, Leader of Martial Arts & Combat Sports Research Network, Associate Professor Dr Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Professor Dr Mohamad Rahizam Abdul Rahim, and Senior Lecturer, Dr Syahida Mohd Nazri.
“The seminar today, celebrates the initiative of the universities to embark on collaborations internationally. With the dynamic era and the new norm in today’s world, such measure is considered a necessity, to ensure that we continue to move forward and not being left behind,” said Professor Dr Mohad Anizu.
The international seminar had three sessions. Each sessions has four presenters. Associate Professor Dr Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie presented his research paper title “Teaching Silat to Young Migrants in Malaysia”. Meanwhile, Professor Dr Mohad Anizu Mohd Nor and Associate Professor Dr Mohamad Rahizam Abdul Rahim were given the roles as the moderators and Dr Syahida Mohd Nazri was the discussant.
The collaboration mentioned will be prioritised and developed strategically. UiTM welcomes participation from the private sector and professionals in this partnership.
